Most athletes know the importance of flexibility.

Yet few actually make it a priority in their training.

A Sports Enhancement Training program may be the ideal solution.

What is Sports Enhancement Training?

Sports Enhancement Training is a program designed to help athletes perform at a higher level. It’s a multifaceted approach that takes all of the core components of athleticism into consideration. These components include:

Agility

Speed

Endurance

Balance

Flexibility

Strength

Cardio

And even nutrition and mindset.

When you start a Sports Enhancement Training program it’s important to know that the trainers at Core1 Inc believe in customizing for the specific athlete. That means your sport, the position you play, your goals, mechanics and even your past injuries will all be taken into consideration when creating your program.

Why Such A Combined Approach?

At Core1 we believe that each facet of your performance enhances the other. Your strength enhances your speed. Your agility improves your endurance. Your balance and flexibility are closely linked.

For example, imagine a tennis player who lunges for the ball. They need speed, agility, flexibility and strength to maximize that lunge and reach the ball in time.

Now Back to Improving Your Flexibility

Flexibility refers to the ability to move joints through their entire range of motion. This means you can move completely from a flexed to an extended position. In sport that often means being able to perform that movement quickly and with power. For example, a hurdler needs to have tremendous hip flexibility while moving through the air with speed.

Volleyball and basketball players need full range of motion in their arms and shoulders as they’re shooting a basket or spiking a ball. And have you seen some of the lengths a soccer player will go through to get to the ball? Flexibility is essential to perform at the top of your sport. And improving your flexibility along with your strength can reduce your risk of injury.

It is all intertwined, which is what makes a Sports Enhancement Training Program so special. You’ll meet with trainers and go over your goals, history, and your sport. You’ll receive a training program that is designed specifically for you. Over the course of the program you will see marked improvements in your strength, balance, endurance, cardio health and your flexibility. Click here to learn more about how our Sports Enhancement Training Program will help you take your sport to the next level.

How do you train right now? Do you have goals for each training session?

Do you have long term training goals, too?

If not, you may be missing out.

Training goals help you, and your trainer, create focused training sessions. Training goals help you stay motivated and they boost confidence as well. After all, what’s better than achieving a goal and feeling the rush of success?

Why Training Goals Are Important

Training goals help you create focused training plans. They also help you get and stay motivated. Imagine a routine training session where you don’t have a goal. You go through the motions and you probably work hard because you’re competitive but you may not give it that 110% you’re capable of.

On the other hand when you have a goal you’re training for, if you’re competitive, as athletes usually are, you’re going to do everything in your power to achieve that goal. Training goals help you push yourself to a whole new level.

And with each new training goal you achieve, you begin to build a pattern of success. This boosts confidence and as you probably already know, confidence during competition is often the key to success.

How Do You Set Training Goals?

There are essentially two types of goals. The first is a long term goal. This is a goal you might want to reach in three months, six months, or even a year.

The second type of goal is a milestone goal. These are smaller goals that help you get to your long term goal. For example, if you want to drop a minute off of your mile you might first aim to increase your pace by twenty seconds.

You can then work with your trainer to create a plan to help you achieve your long term goals and to help you create milestone goals to get you where you want to be.

Setting Your Own Athletic Training Goals

When you’re thinking about your goals and planning how you’re going to train for them and achieve them there are a few key questions to ask. They include:

What are your goals?

What is your plan for achieving them? (Consider consulting with a Core1 trainer to help you create your individualized training plan)

How are you going to measure success?

Finally, the last step is to assess your success. Were you able to achieve your goal? If not, why not? What got in your way and how can you succeed next time?

The last question is important because it’ll help you move forward with confidence and a plan.

Goal setting is an important part of an athlete’s progress.

It helps you get and stay motivated and it helps you and your trainer create a custom training plan designed specifically for you.

Stronger doesn’t just mean bigger muscles or the ability to lift more weight, though it can help.

Stronger, at least when it comes to physical competition and athletics means:

More endurance

More mobility

Fewer injuries

More confidence

More power

Strength also impacts your ability to move quickly, turn on a dime, and stop and start more quickly than your competition.

Strength evolves as an outcome of effective training.

When you engage in an effective and comprehensive athletic training program you get stronger not only in the obvious ways but also in some of the less obvious, though critically important, ways.

What Is Effective Training?

There are many different components to effective training. An effective training program is one that:

Focuses on your core sport

Takes all of your strengths and weaknesses into consideration

Pushes your limits

Acknowledges your personal strengths and weaknesses

Focuses on the movements and requirements necessary for your position within your sport

Helps you grow stronger mentally as well. We’re talking about fast decision making, improved confidence and the ability to overcome fear barriers.

When it comes to strength training there are a couple paths you can take.

You Can Train On Your Own

Often, when people think about strength training they’re picturing people working out in the gym with weights.

Strength training often involves repetitions and pushing your muscles to the limit.

There is, however, a limitation to creating a strength training program on your own.

It can be difficult to assess your own form.

It can also be a challenge to learn the range of strength training exercises available to you.

You Can Train With A Professional

An experienced trainer can help you work out with proper form.

Good form reduces the risk of injury.

It also helps you get the maximum benefit from each movement and exercise.

Additionally, there are many exercise systems a professional trainer can put together.

These systems include several different strength training movements in one repetition.

They help build not only your core muscles but the surrounding ones as well.

This maximizes your training time and helps you achieve fast results. It also reduces your risk of injury.

A professional trainer, like the trainers at core1inc, can help you put together a customized training program.

This program is based on your sport, and the position you play in your sport. It also takes a look at your strengths, weaknesses and personal fitness goals.

At Core1, we specialize in helping young athletes perform their very best, reducing the risk of injury, and helping them get stronger at the same time.

A good strength training program will help you get stronger so you’re able to outlast your opponent and compete at the top level.

Injuries can derail your season. In a split second you can go from performing at your best to being done for the year.

Even small injuries, if not properly treated, can quickly become chronic and lead to bigger and more devastating injuries.

The goal for most athletes is to stay injury free. Yet many are unaware that effective training is the key to preventing injuries. Injuries aren’t often a result of “freak accidents” but, rather, they’re more often the result of weak muscle groups, tendons, joints, and ligaments.

Effective training works to strengthen all areas of your body so you can push it to the limits; perform at your very best, and you don’t have to worry about injury.

Effective Training…

Strengthens performance muscles

Strengthens supporting muscles

Teaches proper form

Unfortunately, it’s challenging to find an effective DIY training program.

Effective Training Programs are Designed Specifically for You, the Athlete

We customize your workouts very specifically. In fact, they’re custom-built for the position you play.

Every position in every sport uses different muscles and bone structures. An effective training program assesses which of your muscles and bones are being used the most and works to build those muscles up – and make them more limber and flexible.

When your supporting structures are strong, they can handle whatever you throw at them and the risk of injury is significantly reduced.

Additionally, an effective training program will look at your mechanics and your existing strengths and weaknesses. It will be designed to help you maximize your strengths, improve your mechanics, and strengthen your weak areas.

You just can’t find a predesigned training program in a store that takes your skills and strengths into consideration. Even the best coaches have several athletes to train. They just don’t have the time or the resources to create individualized training programs for each of their athletes.

So what’s the solution? How do you find an effective training program to prevent injuries?

The Core1Inc Athlete Training Difference

Every athlete that walks into our doors gets a custom, unique program designed just for him or her.

When you train at Core1, your workout will be customized for your physical level, size, sport, and even the position you play. We take a look at your mechanics. We listen to your goals and then our team of trainers puts together a training program designed specifically for you.

Build speed, build strength, build confidence and reduce the risk of injury with an effective training program designed specifically for you.

Submit your name, email and phone number to get started with a free training session.

How often do you engage in a truly intense workout? If you’re like many athletes it’s easy to get into a rut.

You do the same training sessions over and over again. Sure, you work hard, but the intensity seems to fade with each repetition.

And it’s not uncommon to want to avoid intense training altogether.

It’s challenging, right?

And if you push yourself too hard you might get injured.

Intense training can be fun (and it can be injury free as well.)

The Fun Benefits of an Intense Workout

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as pushing yourself to your limits and learning that you’re able to go further than you ever thought possible.

You feel powerful and able to accomplish just about anything you set your mind to.

An intense training program teaches you where your limits are and helps you push through them.

It’s a real confidence booster!

You increase your strength, mobility, and endurance as well.

An intense workout doesn’t just mean challenging your body to perform better.

It also means challenging your mind.

When you’re engaged in a challenging workout you’re likely asking your body to perform new exercises and movements.

This requires you to rethink how you move.

You’re working new muscle groups and your mind and body have to work together to optimize the movements.

So an intense workout isn’t just about working harder and repeating the same exercises with more intensity.

It also means adding new exercises and movements to your training program and challenging your body to move in a different way.

Starting an Intense Training Program – How to Prepare

Before you get started with a new and intense training program there are a few steps to take.

You want to make sure your new program will help you improve and become a better athlete.

1. Know Your Strengths – It’s important to step back and assess what you do well right now.

What are your strengths?

What exercises and skills do you perform well repeatedly?

These strengths can be challenged by adding new movements to your training program to help you continue to improve.

2. Know Your Weaknesses – It’s also important to know about the areas where you’re weak.

We’re not only talking about muscle weakness but also skills and mechanics.

Where can you use some improvement?

3. Be Ready and Excited to Work – If you’re not excited and motivated to start a new and intense training program, it’s not going to work.

In order to get the most benefit from any training program you want to be ready to work hard.

4. Have Goals – Goals are a motivational tool.

They’ll help you feel excited about your new training program.

Additionally, goals will help create the best training program for you.

5. Get Expert Help – Find a trainer who specializes in training athletes and creating custom training programs.

A trainer will be able to assess your skills, weaknesses and goals and help create the best program for you.

A good one will also be able to push you beyond what you think is possible and help you get and stay motivated to succeed.

An intense training program may be the missing key you’ve been looking for.

It’s extremely important to make sure that your training program is matched to your sports and athletic goals.

Fitness buffs and other individuals who are working out in order to improve their health (these individuals are generally “exercising” as opposed to “training”) simply don’t require the same degree of preparation or focus on their training.

This has nothing to do with athletic ability or even personal drive. For many fitness exercisers, their goals – such as weight loss, or perhaps to get themselves healthier to aid in fighting a disease like cancer – may provide them with a very high level of motivation.

And some exercise buffs have spectacular levels of fitness. Even so, their training programs are probably different than the training programs used by athletes.
For one thing, athletes are much more likely to require professional coaching input when developing their personal training programs.

A fitness exerciser looking to lose weight can simply go to the gym and do their cardio and resistance workouts without having to worry quite as much about overall program structure. So long as they train with proper form and don’t overdo it, they’re likely to meet with some degree of success.

Even if their success is at a level less than it could be, the exerciser will probably still be happy with seeing some results.

On the other hand, the athlete in training must make sure that they are focusing on areas of performance that are likely to be successful against the opponent or opponents in the next athletic competition, as well as training their own individual strengths and weaknesses.

In many cases these items can most accurately be identified and trained on with the assistance of a professionally-trained coach.

For an athlete, whether a training program is successful or not is not simply matter of whether their level of fitness has improved. Athletes are training for performance, and their success will be measured in competition.

In addition, athletes looking to break through training “plateaus” are likely to need more expertise from a coach, because simply “training more” or “training harder” could easily lead to overtraining or even an injury.

An experienced coach or physical therapist will have spent time helping athletes identify the various factors contributing to the training plateau, and help their athletes identify the best way to break through.

An athlete’s “training” program is more than just the exercises and drills and workouts that he or she does to improve their fitness. Training is a larger process, and also includes planned and targeted recovery.

Recovery might involve different levels of activity, and may involve rehabilitative exercises if you are nursing or trying to come back from an injury. Again, the assistance of a professional physical therapist can be invaluable in keeping the athlete healthy.

If you believe you are currently stuck at a level of performance and want to break through to the next level of competition, then seek assistance from one of our experienced trainers. CORE1 can help you reach your potential.

Visualization techniques and better nutrition will certainly help, but having an optimal physical training plan is the best single way to boost athletic performance.
Unfortunately, too many athletes tend to build their training plans around their existing strengths.

This is particularly evident among casual athletes and fitness buffs. Go into the weight room of your local health club and rec center and you’ll probably see people doing lifting exercises that work parts of their bodies that are already relatively overdeveloped.

(A common sight is men who have well developed biceps and pectorals continue to work those muscles heavily while their backs or legs remain relatively under developed.)

When people do workouts that cater to their existing strengths, it makes it very difficult for them to improve on their weaknesses. Training only to your strengths is often exactly the least effective approach to becoming a more competitive athlete.

Ask yourself what is currently holding you back in your athletic performance; is it the fact that your strengths could be a little bit better, or is it that your weaknesses could be a lot better? In an ideal world, you’d be able to train as many hours as there are in the day.

But since that’s not realistic, you’ll need to identify the types of training activities that will give you the most effective performance boost. Start the process by identifying your performance and training weaknesses. During athletic competitions, what ways do you believe that you most fail to perform?

Is your endurance weak? Is your maximum strength or explosive power not up to the level of your competitors?

This process can be difficult because competitive athletes do not like to focus their thinking on ways in which they do not perform well. If you need assistance identifying your weaknesses, consider consulting with your coach or one of your trusted teammates or workout partners.

If necessary, and you want a perspective that might be a little more objective, then consider retaining the expertise of a professional physical therapist or trainer.
When building your training plan around the weaknesses you’ve identified, the most important concept to keep in mind is balance.

Improving on your weaknesses should be a significant portion of your training plan, but it should not come at the expense of your current strengths. Your strengths will not stay strengths if you completely neglect them in your training. You must balance strengths and weaknesses in your training.

This balance in your training plan must also take into account the fact that training weakness sometimes presents a mental hurdle to some athletes. The nature of competitive athletics is to place a high focus on performance.

When athletes are forced to confront the areas of their training that highlights their weaknesses, it can be sometimes be a blow to their egos or confidence. Ultimately, though, it’s worth taking on the challenge of adding this type of focus to your training plan, because it will pay off in competitive performance down the road.
